The Episcopal Church really does welcome everyone and so does St. Georges. We are a small, friendly, family oriented congregation representing a broad range of Christian Points of View.
The Evangelism Committee focuses on Welcoming and Spiritual and Social Hospitality. We hope you will join us but we don’t want to be overbearing. The website is often the first piece of information, especially for younger people. When you come to our church, you will be greeted at the door, during the service (at “the peace”) and after (coffee hour). If you are interested in our Church and sign our guest book; one of our ladies will bake and deliver a “goodie” to your home.
In the past year we have welcomed at least three new families. This means a lot to a small congregation of about 55 families.
Evangelism activities include:
The Evangelism Committee meets every other month to review our newcomer families’ experiences with us. We also review and adjust our programs and our communications with the community. There are six regular members but anyone is invited to attend. Recent committee activities include:
• Published a new Church Brochure (in the pew pockets)
• Training and communication of Evangelism programs
with other area Episcopal Churches
• Sponsor & support Sunday Day care for pre-schoolers,
inconjunction with our Sunday School
• Support community day care (The Hellertown preschool
daycare occurs in our Church 4 days per week)
• Publish our Parish activities and schedule to the
community
• Support Church Social Activities such as dinners, plays,
bus trips, etc.
• We have Evangelical events like “Bring a Friend to
Church Sunday”; Newcomer Sunday, and community-wide food events like “Elegant Soup and Salad Night”.
• We are creating a Parish family and member Photo
Gallery which is prominently displayed in the
Parish Hall.
• We work closely with our Outreach committee to find
meaningful ways of supporting needs in our community
and the world.
Our Goal:
St. Benedict teaches that Jesus would have us welcome everyone “with the courtesy of love”. We are to see Christ in our guests and . . .
We hope they will see him in us.
